For functional testing of parts, polyurethane casting opens access to performant materials and fully dense parts. At rpm, we place our focus on PU casting projects that require technical accuracy, secure data handling, skilled labour, and low supply chain risk. With more than 20 years of experience, rpm is an strong partner for selecting appropriate materials and adjusting design for small series production. All vacuum casted parts undergo a final quality assurance before leaving rpm.

Material selection is one of the main advantages our customers have as compared to additive manufacturing. We have developed a portfolio with leading European materials developers that includes high-temperature, transparent, chemical resistant, elastic, and other specialty materials. But equally important is a direct material substitute for common materials like ABS, PP or TPU. Our facilities include dimensional scanning equipment and pressure testing for industrial applications. The resulting parts are finished in-house to be ready for customer applications.

POLYURETHANE CASTING FOR FUNCTIONAL PROTOTYPES

The success of technical PU parts begins with competent part evaluation and mould design. Our team has a particular focus on meeting the technical requirements for parts in industrial goods, appliances, automotive, or mobility industries. All mould manufacturing and casting is done in-house to continue to retain and foster a high degree of technical expertise. Even for elastic materials, we achieve a tight tolerance and can perform full dimensional checks on parts before they leave rpm.

SMALL SERIES INDUSTRIAL PART PRODUCTION

We approach our PU casting projects as partners with our customers. In most cases, a technical drawing intended for the series production forms the basis for all decisions. Together with the partner, the part is assessed for manufacturability. Often a series of design adjustments are coordinated with the customer to meet technical requirements and to improve the final outcome. rpm also has an in-house engineering team to make final design adjustments, if required. All parts are measured again to defined tolerances after production.

BUILDING SHOWCASE PROTOTYPES WITH PU MOULDED PARTS

With our in-house staff and local teams, rpm also builds together full assemblies for showcase design models. We work with additional sourced components to put together functional pieces with series finish. The rpm project management team handles all aspects to deliver a turnkey solution.

PU VACUUM CASTING IN COLOR AND WITH SPECIALTY FINISHES

Although we are known for PU casting black parts that are technically accurate for automotive, industrial and mobility applications – we also produce a subset of products for consumer and medical applications. For these groups, colored or white parts are required for the final delivery. These applications usually “bridge” production until injection moulding tooling is complete.
